This hand painted kitchen was in a lovely old period property set in the village of Kirk Ireton, in beautiful Derbyshire countryside, not far from Carsington Water. The client was not only looking for a quality paint job, but also a complete new limestone floor. It was pretty much a full refurb!

The clients had asked if I could recommend a good floor tiler for fitting the large limestone tiles and because I have worked alongside one such fellow on many a project, ‘Geoff the tiler’ was given the job.

All works were planned with Geoff completing the flooring before I came in to paint the units. The tiled splash back behind the Aga would be replaced by a full sheet of black glass, also being fitted by the tiler. New chrome knobs were to replace the old fashioned pine ones. This kitchen will look great!

Lots of prep work was required before this kitchen was anywhere near ready for painting. After a thorough degrease and clean down, I set to work with my Mirka Deros. This kitchen had been previously painted, unfortunately not very well, therefore every inch of paint work received a thorough flatting back to enable me to achieve a quality finish.

Choice of paint was Tikkurila Furniture Feelings from Holman Specialist Paints an undercoat and  2 x top coats in a colour called ‘Old Chalk’. Choice of brush was a * 2″ and 1.5″ Purdy Monarch Elite from online store Mypaintbrushes

Here is what the client had to say:

From initial enquiry and meeting to final handshake, we trusted Russ with our kitchen, our dogs and our house keys! He presented and delivered an extremely professional service in a good old down to earth style.

He was always on hand to provide advice and opinion when decisions were needed from us and went out of his way to do additional research for us. The fantastic quality of the finished job is testament to the detailed grafting he put into preparation and his skill in applying the final brush strokes. Russ transformed our kitchen at a fraction of the cost of replacing it.

If you’re thinking of getting a quote from him, do it! If you’re considering his quote, book him now!

Just waiting for Geoff the tiler to come and fit the glass splashback and I reckon its a job well done!

You wouldn’t think it, but even Winston the chocolate lab was impressed!
